Everyone is invited to participate in the discussion of new toponyms of the capital.
In “Kyiv Digital”, a survey has already begun regarding the new names of three squares, a square and a bridge. Until now they were nameless. About this reported head of digital transformation of Kyiv and deputy head of KMDA Petro Olenych.
According to him, initiative groups of the capital turned to the Kyiv City Council with their variants of names.
Now it’s up to the users of the application, they can support or reject the proposed names.
In particular, it is proposed:
- It is proposed to return the historical name Rybalsky to the Petrivsky railway bridge;
- the nameless square in the Desnyansk district should be called the Heroes’ Square of Chernigov;
- a square in Holosiivskyi district — to be named in honor of public activist Danylo Didik;
- the square in the Solomyan district — to be named the square of the Athletes-Defenders of Ukraine;
- the square in the Shevchenkiv district – to give the name of the Saperiv Square.

A small square on Pankivska Street, not far from the university’s botanic garden, is proposed to be named after a young man from Kharkiv, 15-year-old Danylo Didik. Voting has started in the “Kyiv Digital” application.
The campaign to name the square was initiated by the well-known musician, journalist and volunteer Ruslan Horovy. And musicians and public figures support him in this. In particular, Serhii Zhadan, who reposted Ruslan’s request.
“Evening Kyiv” reported in detail that a square in Kyiv was proposed to be named after the young hero, the publication also includes the arguments of the support group for the new name.
Voting on various topics takes place in the “Kyiv Digital” application. So, recently residents of the capital were asked what language they use, how they rate their level of Ukrainian and how they are ready to improve it. The results of the survey, in which more than 45 thousand participants took part. Its results will be used to develop the City’s concept of the affirmation of the Ukrainian language in all spheres of the capital’s social life.
