Ireland Embassy in Ukraine organized the special show of the movie “Mrs. Robinson” about the first female president of the country

The special screening of Mrs. Robinson’s movie about the first woman-Ireland President Mary Robinson (1990-1997) was held on March 27 in Kiev under the patronage of the Ireland Embassy in Ukraine and in cooperation with a global campaign for climate justice under the guidance of women Project Dandelion.

The head of the accredited diplomatic missions of foreign states, representatives of the management of state authorities, including Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications Andriy Nadzhos, Verkhovna Rada deputies, educators and representatives of the Irish community in Kyiv visited the show.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ireland to Ukraine Jonathan Conlon told the audience about the main achievements of Mary Robinson. Following the presidential cadence, she held the position of the UN Human Rights (1997-2002), and later became the chairman of the Nelson Mandela of the Council of Elders (2018-2024), an independent group of world leaders who work for peace, justice and human rights.

Robinson is a laureate of numerous honors and awards, including the Presidential Medal from US President Barack Obama. For half a century, it remains a supporter of gender equality, the participation of women in the development of peace, human dignity and climate justice.
