The issue raised at the last meeting of the anti-corruption committee of the Verkhovna Rada with the purchase of uniforms for the military at inflated prices has been investigated since October 2022. And those responsible for these machinations, ex-Deputy Minister of Defense Shapoval and ex-head of the procurement department Khmelnytskyi, are under investigation, says the article of expert Taras Zahorody.
“If so, then the question arises – why is the old case surfacing now as a scandal?” – writes the expert.
According to his version, we are talking about a commissioned campaign to fight for the seat of the Minister of Defense.
Zagorodniy notes that among the probable names that sound like the new minister or deputy minister of defense is the name of the executive director of the Anti-Corruption Center, Daria Kaleniuk. Who was remembered by Ukrainians, including as a person who tried to prevent special confiscation of Yanukovych’s assets in the state budget.
“The initiator of the latest scandal is People’s Deputy, head of the Anti-Corruption Committee Anastasia Radina, who was a member of the Communist Party of Ukraine before her election to the parliament,” the article says.
The expert notes that system changes for the better began in the MoD this year: rear-end procurement was returned to Prozzoro. The Anti-Corruption Council was elected, including authoritative representatives of the public. The situation with the purchase of weapons and ammunition has improved.
“There are other tasks for our country – to reform the Ministry of Defense to ensure victory. Therefore, I do not consider these conversations about the dismissal of Reznikov, who seems to want to be replaced by a woman or someone else, to be expedient,” adds Zagorodny.
