Ukraine received a $3.9 billion grant from the United States – Ministry of Finance

Date:

A grant from the United States of America in the amount of $3.9 billion was received by the state budget of Ukraine, breaking the pause from October 2023, when a previous US grant of $1.15 billion was received by the state budget.

“I am grateful to the US government for its solidarity with Ukraine. $3.9 billion – non-refundable financial assistance – is an extremely important contribution to support the state budget of Ukraine during the resistance to the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation”, the Ministry of Finance released on Monday said the words of Minister Serhiy Marchenko.

He added that the grant will help the government reimburse priority expenses in the social and humanitarian spheres without increasing the debt burden.

According to the release, the funds came through the World Bank project “Supporting public expenditures to ensure sustainable public administration in Ukraine (PEACE in Ukraine)”.

It is specified that the funding will be directed to compensation of salaries for teachers, employees of rapid response services (RSNS), employees of state bodies, as well as priority social expenses: aid payments to internally displaced persons, low-income families and persons with disabilities.

The Ministry of Finance reminds that direct budget support from the USA since February 2022 has reached almost $27 billion, and this is the largest financial aid to Ukraine among all countries in the world, it was provided in the form of grants.

This year, budget support from the US is planned in the amount of $7.8 billion.
