US week spoke with Russia about the cessation of war but there is no result – Rubio

Date:

The United States had a conversation with representatives of the Russian leadership in Ukraine to end the war in Ukraine, but did not make progress. President Donald Trump will make a decision on further action against Russia in the coming days, since for more than half a year attempts of peaceful settlement remain unsuccessful, reported Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Fox Radio.

“The President has been waiting for more than six months and made the best effort. We continue to interact with the Russian side, this week – early this week, Monday or Tuesday. We also had a whole conversation with them – not with Putin, but with some of Putin’s leading people, we will not see a certain way.

According to him, the US President is concerned about the gap between the rhetoric of Russian representatives and events at the front.

“He has these wonderful phone calls, where everyone claims that we would like to see this end if we can find the way forward and then it includes news, and another city was divided, including those far from the front line,” the Secretary of State said.

He stressed that Washington is open to various scenarios, but the main condition remains the termination of hostilities and the beginning of negotiations.

“The President has many options. Secondary oil sales, sectoral banking sanctions are all powerful tools. We hope to avoid this and find out how we can stop the fight. But yet, at least what we feel, sincere interest from the Russian side before achieving this goal, was not yet.
