The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi said that the situation in the Soledar-Bakhmut-Mayorsk section remains the most difficult on the front. Zaluzhnyi reported this on Facebook after the first telephone conversation of the year with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, Mark Milley.
According to him, heavy fighting is taking place at the Svatove-Kreminna border, as well as in the direction of Lysychansk.
“The most difficult situation remains on the Soledar-Bakhmut-Mayorsk section. There, the enemy is actually trying to move forward using their corpses, but units of the Defense Forces hold back the enemy offensive at the cost of overwhelming force. In the Donetsk direction, we managed to hold positions around Avdiivka and continue counteroffensive actions. We are reliably holding defensive lines in the Zaporozhye direction and are making efforts to protect Kherson from enemy shelling, primarily civilians and the city’s critical infrastructure facilities,” the message reads.
Valery Zaluzhny reported that the situation on the border with Belarus is fully under control.
Earlier, Valery Zaluzhnyi reported that in 2022 the Ukrainian military liberated 40% of the territories occupied after February 24 and 28% of all occupied territories. Today, according to his data, the Ukrainian military continues to hold back the enemy on a land area with a length of 3,786 kilometers, the active front line is 1,500 kilometers.
