“Ukrenergo” records the growth of electricity consumption for more than a week, but notes its slowdown

Date:

Electricity consumption continues to grow and as of 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, its level is 1.1% higher than the previous day, which is due to the heat in most regions of Ukraine. reported NEC “Ukrenergo”.

According to her information in the telegram, on Tuesday, August 20, the maximum consumption was 2.2% higher than on the previous working day.

“This is approximately equal to the capacity of one power unit of a large TPP. It is not possible to add such a volume of generation now due to the consequences of Russian strikes on power plants,” the system operator explained.

At the same time, as it follows from his data, the growth of consumption is somewhat slowing down. For comparison, on Tuesday morning, the excess was 2.1% compared to Monday, and Monday’s maximum exceeded Friday’s indicator by 3.9%.

About growth consumption “Ukrenergo” has been reporting for a week, and since Monday, August 19, due to a shortage of power, the system operator was forced to return to the application of power supply restrictions, which ceased on July 30.

“Ukrenergo” confirmed that measures to limit consumption will operate at yesterday’s level from 16:00 to 24:00 for all categories of consumers, except for critical infrastructure and enterprises that pay more than 80% of electricity imports for their own needs.

According to her data, electricity is imported during the day from Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova with a total volume of almost 20,000 MWh (19,600 MW*h yesterday).

As a result of hostilities and other reasons, 520 settlements were completely or partially cut off. Due to bad weather, 24 settlements in the Ternopil region remain without power in the morning.

According to the Ministry of Energy in a telegram, substations, household consumers and mines were cut off as a result of hostilities in the Donetsk region.

“At the time of the incident, there were 55 workers in one of the mines, all of whom were brought to the surface,” the Ministry of Energy notes.

As it was reported, on Tuesday evening the chairman of the board of NEC “Ukrenergo” Volodymyr Kudrytskyi said that the decrease in heat and the introduction of additional power units already next week will probably make it possible to avoid power outages in the absence of force majeure.
