A man in Peru was caught with an 800-year-old mummy in a cooler bag

Date:

According to him, “Juanita” is his “spiritual friend”, whom the Peruvian “settled” at home and sometimes “brought out to show to his friends”.

The pre-Hispanic mummy, which is approximately 600 to 800 years old, was found in the backpack of a courier who worked for a delivery company in the Puno region, near Bolivia. The police found three young people who were transporting her. The incident happened on Saturday, February 25, in the south of Peru. People were caught unawares when they were drinking alcoholic beverages, writes Ancient Origins.

Together with him, the young man had a delivery box from the company “Pedidos Ya”. In it, the police found human remains wrapped in soft skin, like mummies, placed in the position of an embryo.

The young man called the mummy “his certain spiritual friend”, because he lived with her for some time. The remains themselves supposedly belonged to his father and were usually found in a box near the TV. How exactly the mummy ended up in him is not known for sure.

The Ministry of Culture said that the remains, classified as historical property, had been identified. This is a mummified adult male, probably from the eastern region of Puno. Previously, he was 45 years old, and his height was about 1.51 m.

According to experts, the remains were about 800 years old, and they came from the Patambuco area. It is believed that the courier’s family owned them for about 30 years.

According to the Peruvian, the mummy was kept in his parents’ house, and he took her remains out to show his friends.

The police confiscated the mummy and handed it over to the ministry. The courier himself and his friends have been detained and are under investigation due to their connection with alleged crimes against the country’s cultural heritage.
