Blinken: the transfer of F-16 fighters from Denmark and the Netherlands continues, the fighters will fly in the sky of Ukraine this summer

Date:

Currently, F-16 aircraft are being transferred from Denmark and the Netherlands, these fighters will fly in the skies of Ukraine this summer, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said.

“I am also pleased to announce that the transfer of F-16 fighter jets from Denmark, the Netherlands is currently underway, and these fighters will fly in the skies over Ukraine this summer to ensure that Ukraine can continue to effectively defend itself against Russian aggression,” he said at the NATO Public Forum in Washington, where the NATO summit is ongoing.

He noted that NATO allies have done the work to provide Ukraine with more air defense systems, in particular Patriots, as well as many other systems, because “this is the key to a lot of things.”

“This is the key to protecting Ukraine’s infrastructure. This is the key to protecting its population. This is the key to protecting her powers. It is also the key to making sure that we unlock the private sector and economic investment in Ukraine, which will also be of great importance for Ukraine’s future success,” he noted.

The State Secretary emphasized that people should make investments in a safe environment, therefore the air defense systems announced for Ukraine “were the number one task for Ukraine and for the alliance that supports it.”
