Great Britain’s bobsled team of Brad Hall and Taylor Lawrence separated the strong German pairs on their home track in Altenberg to win silver.
They finished 0.43 seconds behind Germany’s Olympic silver medalist Johannes Lochner, who won his third consecutive World Cup double-header event.
Francesco Friedrich, who won the first two races of the season, was third.
Hall and Lawrence won four medals in five doubles races, including three silvers and one bronze.
They lost to Lochner and partner Georg Fleischhauer by just two hundredths of a second in both heats, finishing with a combined time of 1 minute 49.63 seconds.
Pilot Hall and Lawrence, who will race again in Altenberg on Sunday in a four-event, alongside Greg Cockett and Arran Gulliver, sit third overall behind both German teams.
Great Britain has never won a World Cup overall medal in bobsled pairs.
