Dmytro Buryak: Elon Musk decided to invest in artificial intelligence

Date:

Elon Musk founded a new player in the artificial intelligence market. This was reported by two authoritative publications – the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal.

In detail

The recently closed deal to purchase almost 100,000 graphics processors gave rise to the relevant conversations. The transaction was preceded by the billionaire’s founding of X.AI Corp., registered in the state of Nevada. The sole director of the organization is Musk himself. The businessman appointed the head of his family office, Jared Birhall, to the secretarial position. Known for his penchant for the letter “X,” Musk even renamed Twitter, Inc. on X Corp.

Recently, the protagonist of this post expressed concern about the political bias of ChatGPT. The WSJ editorial suggests that Musk wants to create AI models that “seek the truth.” The details of the merchant’s plans for X.AI Corp and the development of a rival ChatGPT remain unclear, but it is reported that Musk has already contracted ex-DeepMind researchers and, as noted above, purchased thousands of GPUs for AI development. The entrepreneur is also trying to convince the shareholders of Tesla and SpaceX to “invest” in the financing of the new enterprise.

Musk is known to the public for his participation in the creation of several successful companies. His first “child” in 1995 was Zip2, a software development company that provided online business directories and city guides for newspapers. In 1999, Musk sold Zip2 for nearly $300 million and co-founded X.com, an online payments company that later became PayPal.

In 2002, PayPal was sold to eBay for more than $1 billion. Musk invested this amount in the creation of SpaceX, a private corporation engaged in space exploration from scratch.

In 2004, the entrepreneur became a co-founder of the electric car manufacturer Tesla, which is now the industry leader. Among Musk’s latest acquisitions is the social network giant Twitter, bought for $44 billion. And now there are rumors spreading on the Internet about the founding of the company X.AI Corp., which specializes in the development of AI.
