In the Rivne region, the grandfather who chopped his son with an ax will most likely be recognized as insane

Date:

We will remind you that the event took place on December 14, last year, in the village of Villa of the former Berezniv district. The pre-trial investigation established that around 11:00 a.m. another domestic conflict arose between an 85-year-old father and his 53-year-old son on the basis of long-term hostile relations. Then, an hour later, the pensioner waited for his drunken son to fall asleep, took an ax, and deliberately struck him with at least four blows to the head and the surface of the hand.

The injuries received turned out to be incompatible with life – the victim died at the scene: the death of a 53-year-old man occurred as a result of massive blood loss.

From the scene of the incident, the police removed physical evidence, in particular, the instrument of the crime.

An 85-year-old resident of the village of Villia was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

He was informed of the suspicion of premeditated murder.

During the period of the pre-trial investigation, the suspect was under 24-hour house arrest.

The forensic psychiatric expert established that the man suffers from mental disorders, and therefore, at the time of committing the crime, he could not be fully aware of his actions and manage them.

The investigators, with the approval of the prosecutor’s office, submitted to the court a request to apply coercive measures of a medical nature to the 85-year-old man in the form of compulsory outpatient psychiatric care.
