At the end of 2022, LLC “Bukovel” appealed to two village councils – Polyanytska (Ivano-Frankivsk region) and Ust-Chornyanska (Transcarpathia). The purpose of the appeal is to start preparations for the construction of two more resorts – “Bystrytsia” and “Turbat”.
That is, Kolomoiskyi and his men not only did not abandon their intention build a huge resort “Svidovets”. They also plan to build trails, ski lifts and hotels in the mountains adjacent to Svydovets – the Bratkivsky ridge and the forests around Mount U’rya, the Free Svydovets community reports.
Announced in 2016, the Svydovets resort should host up to 28,000 people at the same time. The plans include 1,400 hectares of territory, which will house more than 30 cable cars, 230 km of ski slopes, 700 hectares of hotels and other buildings.
The resorts “Turbat” and “Bystrytsia” announced in 2022 are no less large-scale. Together, this is another 1,400 hectares, 25,000 people at the same time, more than 200 km of ski tracks, 28 ski lifts.
All three planned resorts are located next to each other and will be connected to the current Bukovel. That is, as a result, a monster resort is planned, designed for more than 65 thousand people at the same time! For comparison, it is like building a whole city in the middle of the Carpathians, the size of more than half of Uzhhorod.
All the mentioned village councils gave the green light to the planned resorts. As of now, the preparation of documents necessary for construction is underway. Already this year we have a chance to see the beginning of construction work and the beginning of the disaster.
“Why disasters? Because the environmental consequences of building such a monster resort will absolutely outweigh any short-term benefits. For example, at least three thousand hectares of wild Carpathian forests, meadows and rivers will be destroyed or damaged. In fact, it is much more. According to the available maps, construction, ski tracks and lifts will pass through protected areas, habitats of numerous red book plants and animals, unique mountain lakes of Svidovets, and so on.
Only the resort “Svidovets” is almost 9 thousand cubic meters of used water every day and the same amount of waste water. With two resorts announced in 2022, it will reach 15,000 cubic meters daily. For this, a number of Carpathian rivers (in particular, the Black Tisza) will have to be violated once again, arranging reservoirs and water intakes there. Considering that in 2022 the drought was felt even by the inhabitants of the highlands, and Bukovel has not solved the problem of sewage for many years, the consequences are obvious”, – inform the ecoactivists Free Svydovets.
