The patient came from Odesa to Kyiv in serious condition. Doctors in her hometown could not help her problem, so the woman went to the capital.
62-year-old Olga had a right kidney tumor. In addition, it was complicated by a tumor thrombus of the inferior vena cava and the right atrium.
“In the conditions of ordinary hospitals, such patients are doomed, because the diagnosis requires the work of a multidisciplinary team. Fortunately, the Institute has the opportunity to perform similar operations,” the Heart Institute noted.
The Odessa woman was operated on by four teams of doctors: abdominal surgeons, oncologists, cardiac surgeons and a team of perfusionists (doctors responsible for artificial blood circulation).
“We urge fellow doctors, if your patients have similar diagnoses, refer them to the Heart Institute, our doctors have all the necessary technological resources to provide care,” the surgeons emphasized.
