The Austrian federal government has announced that it will extend the order on the temporary protection of refugees from Ukraine until March 2024.
The government noted that the legal stay of Ukrainians in Austria is confirmed by the identity card issued to these migrants. At the same time, it is emphasized that these ID cards will be valid until March 2024, it is reported SchengenVisaInfo.com.
“The competent authority for issuing identity cards for displaced persons is the Federal Department of Immigration and Asylum. The ID cards for displaced persons have now been reissued with a validity period until March 2024 and are produced by the Austrian State Printing Office,” the statement said.
The Austrian government also reported that almost 88,900 identity cards had been issued to Ukrainian refugees since March.
About 56,000 refugees from Ukraine are currently receiving basic assistance in Austria. At the same time, more than 67,000 people who were forced to flee from the Russian war against Ukraine are registered in the central register.
