On Obolon, patrol officers detained a suspicious man: he was carrying a package with a large amount of cocaine

The patrolmen seized from the drug dealer more than one hundred grams of a prohibited substance worth about 17 thousand US dollars.

Operatives of the Obolon police department, together with employees of the Department of Combating Narcotic Crime of the National Police, detained a 33-year-old local resident on the street of Heroes of the Azov Regiment.

He attracted attention with suspicious behavior when he left the post office.

The inspectors stopped the intruder with the package he received at the post office.

During the inspection, the investigators found a metal box in which there were more than 100 grams of drugs, disguised as cream.

As told head of the Obolon police department, Viktor Mykhaylenkoan investigative team immediately arrived at the scene to document the crime:

» According to the prices of the “black” market, the value of the seized item is about 17 thousand US dollars. In addition, we conducted a search at the man’s place of residence, during which we seized a zip-top bag containing a layer of a similar narcotic substance. The material evidence was sent for the appropriate examination, according to the results of which the seized item is cocaine.”

Investigators informed the accused about the suspicion, he is currently in custody.

The perpetrator was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Police officers established that the man was previously held criminally liable for the illegal acquisition and possession of narcotic drugs without the purpose of sale.

Investigators of the Obolon police department started criminal proceedings under the article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal acquisition, storage for the purpose of sale, as well as illegal sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues.

“The court chose a preventive measure for him in the form of detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of 800,000 hryvnias,” said the head of the Obolon police department.

The sanction of the article provides up to ten years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
