The Ukrainian authorities had negotiations with European countries to refuse the purchase of energy resources from Russia, and the only one blocking is Germany, because of the economic consequences for itself.
This was stated by Oleg Ustenko, adviser to the President on economic issues, during telethonreports Ukrinform.
“What is happening in Europe regarding the embargo (on the purchase of energy carriers from Russia – ed.), we had negotiations and the only one blocking is Germany. Any thoughts that this will affect their economy, they have, it will indeed affect the economy, and the message we are giving them is that it will in the short term, but in the medium term there will be a correction in global prices. market and they will go down,” said Ustenko.
He noted that the sanctions, which were applied to Russia earlier, have not yet fully worked, as it takes some time to reflect their consequences.
“When we talk about the economy, there is such a concept as economic lags, that is, what you do now, you will have economic consequences after a certain time. What has happened now, which is the frozen reserves of the Central Bank of Russia, this 300 billion dollars, which we claim after we have peace, and which we will use to rebuild our state, without them it would be much more difficult to achieve that , so that there was such a massive devaluation of the ruble that took place. As for the rest of the sanctions, they are also working. The most important thing is yet to come,” said the President’s adviser.
On February 24, Russian President Putin announced the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops shell and destroy key infrastructure facilities, carry out massive shelling of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and towns using artillery, rocket launchers and ballistic missiles.
