The film “Shchedryk” was among the TOP-3 films in terms of box office receipts among Ukrainian historical dramas, the box office totaled ₴8.7 million in four weeks of release.
The tape “Shchedryk/Shchedryk” directed by Olesya Morgunets-Isayenko is a film that unites people in difficult times. During its release, the film was among the TOP-3 films in terms of box office receipts among Ukrainian historical dramas, received more than 250 mentions in the mass media, on TV and in the digital space,” the message reads.
For four weeks of rental, the box office amounted to ₴8.7 million hryvnias, and the number of viewers almost reached the mark of 70,000.
“Shchedryk” is a family movie that tells the story of three families during the Second World War, showing the events that Ukrainians are experiencing even now. Among them are genocide, enslavement and attempts to destroy identity.
Derzhkino noted that while watching the tape, the audience feels the effect of déjà vu, because the retrospect of the century demonstrates the attitude of both the entire USSR machine and modern Russians towards Ukrainians. It is this trigger that brings people to the cinemas.
The film was created by the Ama Vizhn company in cooperation with Stewopol with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine and the informational support of the State Agency of Ukraine for Film Affairs. The cinema distribution of the film is carried out by FILM.UA Distribution and Kinomania Film Distribution.
As reported, the screening of the film “Shchedryk” began in Ukrainian cinemas on January 5.
