The IOC did not invite the Russian Federation, Belarus and Guatemala to the 2024 Olympics in Paris

Date:

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Wednesday, exactly one year before the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games, officially invited National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and their best athletes to participate in the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, which will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024 in Paris

As reported on the official website IOC website, in total, invitations to Paris 2024 were sent to 203 national Olympic committees.

“This does not include the NOC of Guatemala, which is currently suspended, as well as the NOC of Russia and Belarus,” the message reads.

Earlier, the IOC stated that it will make a decision on the participation of individual, neutral athletes with a Russian or Belarusian passport, in accordance with the recommendations for international federations and international organizers of sports events regarding the participation of athletes with a Russian or Belarusian passport in international competitions, at the appropriate time.

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, emphasized the importance of not allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in the 2024 Olympics, even under neutral flags.

“The Makfaul-Yermak group proposed not to allow athletes from these countries to participate in competitions even last year. We are grateful for the decision of the IOC. But it is also important that Russian and Belarusian athletes are generally not allowed to participate in the Olympics and other competitions and cannot perform even under neutral flags,” – wrote Yermak in a telegram on Wednesday.
