The National Opera of Ukraine is increasing the number of performances

In addition to traditional musical weekends, performances on the stage of the National Opera will also take place every Thursday.

In the final month of winter, fans of classical art can expect many interesting and bright musical events. In particular, a meeting with the star of the world opera stage Lyudmila Monastyrska in the title role in the opera “Floria Tosca”, as well as performances: the ballet “Giselle” and the opera “Carmen”, which the theater team recently performed with great success during the tour on the best stages of Japan and of France

The February bill also features the best examples of Ukrainian opera and ballet classics – the operas “Natalka Poltavka”, “Zaporozhets za Danube” and the ballet “Forest Song”.

In addition, the audience will be able to see again the recent productions of world opera masterpieces: the performances “The Barber of Seville” and “La Traviata”, as well as the modern ballets “Eyes Wide Shut”, “Doctor Faustus”.

On the anniversary of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred Memorial Day, the theater team will present a concert performance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Requiem”, and on the first anniversary of the full-scale invasion of the aggressor country on our land, a dedication concert “Ukraine is free and indomitable” will be held.

Traditionally, performances will take place in the afternoon (Thursday and Friday at 5:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 3:00 p.m.) and the number of spectators in the hall is very limited (only 450 people) so that in the event of an air raid, the audience can be accommodated in the dressing room in a room that, according to the conclusions of the State Emergency Committee, meets the standards of safe shelter.

In February, the National Opera of Ukraine will feature the following performances:

February 2 (Thursday) at 17.00 – a charming comic ballet to the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart “The Marriage of Figaro”. The performance is dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the creative activity of the choreographer and director of the performance, Viktor Yaremenko, and his wife, Tetyana Beletska, a prima ballerina of the late 80s and early 2000s.

Starring: — Nikita Sukhorukov (Figaro), Ilona Kravchenko (Suzanne), Raisa Betancourt (Countess), Oleksandr Gabelko (Count Almaviva), Yehor Konovalov (Kerubino), Oleksandr Skulkin (Marcelina) and others.

February 3 (Friday) at 5:00 p.m. — a tragic opera Giacomo Puccini “Madame Butterfly” in the production of the legendary theater director Iryna Molostova with the participation of: Ksenia Bakhritdinova-Kravchuk (Chio-chio-san), Andrii Romanenko (B.F. Pinkerton, senior lieutenant of the US Navy), Tetyana Piminova (Suzuki), Oleksandr Boyko (Sharples) and others.

February 4 (Saturday) at 3:00 p.m the audience will see the ballet again “The Snow Queen” based on the fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen with music by Edvard Grieg, Jules Massenet and other composers.

At the end of last year, the play was updated for the season of New Year and Christmas holidays.

This time, the audience will once again be able to see leading ballet soloists: Anastasia Shevchenko (Snow Queen), Tetiana Lozova (Gerda), Yaroslav Tkachuk (Kai) and others.

February 5 (Sunday) at 3:00 p.m. — opera an outstanding Italian composer Giacomo Puccini “Floria Tosca” based on the play by Victorien Sardou. At one time, this incredibly passionate and dramatic plot was created for the outstanding actress Sarah Bernard and inspired the Italian composer to create an opera performance that is one of the most popular in the world.

Ludmila Monastyrska, a star of the world opera scene, plays the title role.

Also in the main roles: Oleksandr Melnychuk (Baron Scarpia, police chief), Dmytro Kuzmin (Mario Cavaradossi, artist), Dmytro Ageev (Ryznychy, Prisoner), Angelina Shvachka (Shepherd) and others.

Opera by Georges Bizet “Carmen” scheduled for February 12 (Sunday) at 3:00 p.m.

In the main roles: Iryna Petrova (Carmen, a gypsy), Dmytro Kuzmin (Jose, a sergeant), Gennadiy Vashchenko (Escamillo, a toreador), Serhii Magera (Tsuniga, a captain), Ksenia Bakhritdinova-Kravchuk (Mikaela, Jose’s bride), Victoria Chenska ( Mercedes, a gypsy) and others.

This performance was a huge success during a tour of the largest cities in Japan. The tours lasted from December 13 to January 15. In total, our team presented 27 shows, which took place with triumphant success, once again testifying to the high performance level of our talented artists. Among the performances presented are the opera “Carmen”, the ballet “Don Quixote”, two gala concerts and five performances of Beethoven’s IX Symphony. — Mykola Lysenko’s works were also performed in Japan, in particular the overture to the opera “Taras Bulba”. He shared the results of extremely successful tours chief director of the theater Anatoly Solovyanenko:

The halls were filled with up to 3,000 spectators. It was very warm, touching and symbolic. Many people came with Ukrainian flags, halls and buildings were decorated with them… – said the director.

Also, according to him, the year 2023 will be held under the aegis of Ukrainian music:

On February 24 the implementation of a musical project is planned “Ukraine is free and unbreakable!”within the framework of which, combining the classics and the modern stage of Ukrainian music, the history and the present of Ukrainian indomitability, will be performed, in one evening, “Sich” from “Taras Bulba” by Mykola Lysenko and “Shine by the black sun” by the wonderful modern Ukrainian composer Yevhen Petrichenko.

The group also plans to revive the opera “Yaroslav the Wise” by Georgy Maiboroda, staged back in 2008. The first updated show will take place on March 27, on International Theater Day.

At the same time, production work continues on the new children’s opera “Puss in Boots” by the outstanding modern Ukrainian composer Yuriy Shevchenko, who left this world last year…“, Anatoly Solovyanenko notes.

February 23 (Thursday) at 17:00 — ballet “Forest Song” by Mykhailo Skorulskyi.

Lyrical-dramatic love story based on Lesya Ukrainka’s workthe pearl of Ukrainian ballet. The composer was captivated by the plot of Lesya Ukrainka’s beautiful poetic drama extravaganza “Forest Song” – one of the most outstanding works of Ukrainian literature, captivating with its humanism, high ethical pathos, imbued with an ardent belief in the poetry of life and man’s undying desire for the beautiful.

The most romantic ballet couple – Tetiana Lyozova (Mavka) and Yaroslav Tkachuk (Lukash) are in the main roles.

February 26 (Sunday) at 3:00 p.m. — sophisticated and romantic ballet “Giselle” by Adolphe Adanawith which the ballet troupe of the National Opera of Ukraine captivated the Parisian audience this winter.

Also, in February, after a long break, favorite ballets will return to the stage of the theater:

February 9 (Thursday) at 5:00 p.m — the heroic-romantic “Zorba the Greek” to the music of Mikis Theodorakis. The audience will see Yaroslav Tachuk (Zorba), Olga Kifyak-von-Kramer (Marina), Jan Vani (Manolios) and others in the main roles.

February 16 (Thursday) at 5:00 p.m. — “The Triangular Hat” (El sombrero de tres picos) by Manuel de Falla performed by Khrystyna Shishpor (Melnyk’s Wife), Oleksandr Skulkin (Melnyk) and others.

In the event of an air raid, the audience will be invited to take temporary shelter in the wardrobe room, located one floor below the foyer of the ground floor.
