Ukraine does not cross “red lines” by striking the Russian Federation with Western weapons, ISW

Date:

Dictator of Russia Vladimir Putin stated that Ukraine’s attacks on the Russian Federation with Western weapons do not cross the “red line” established by the Russians themselves. In this regard, there is no need for the invaders to use nuclear weapons.

This is stated in the American report Institute for the study of war (ISW) on Saturday, June 8.

Ukraine does not cross “red lines”

Analysts of the Institute rely on Putin’s statements from June 7, 2024, when the leader of the aggressor state emphasized that the Russian nuclear doctrine calls on Russia to use nuclear weapons only in “exceptional cases” of threats to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Russian Federation. He noted that such an “exceptional” case did not occur, so Russia does not need to use nuclear weapons.

ISW believes that Putin’s statements of June 7 include significant changes in rhetoric. The dictator and other Kremlin officials have previously threatened to use Russian nuclear weapons if Western countries allow Ukraine to strike Russia with weapons provided by the West.

Experts emphasize that since the beginning of the full-scale war, the actions of Ukraine and the West have crossed the “red lines” envisaged by Russia several times. However, the lack of a decisive reaction from Moscow indicates that many of the red lines of the Russian Federation are most likely information operations designed to push the West into self-restraint.

The Institute for the Study of War reminded that since the beginning of June 2024, the Ukrainian army has been striking military facilities in the Belgorod Region with the help of US-provided HIMARS systems using GMLRS rockets.

Earlier we reported that Putin imposes his “theory of victory” in the war against Ukraine. He expects to succeed in a long-term attrition confrontation while the Armed Forces of Ukraine are short of men and weapons.

Also Putin threatened countries, which provide weapons for Ukraine. He talked about hitting them.
