The Council passed the law on increasing the excise tax on fuel – a deputy

By 231 votes, the Verkhovna Rada passed the law on a gradual increase in the excise tax on motor fuel, reported deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak in the Telegram channel on Thursday.

“Parliament adopted draft law 11256-2 on increasing the excise tax on fuel. The amendment (#267) on gas (LPG – IF-U) was also supported,” he wrote.

As reported, on June 4, the Verkhovna Rada supported in the first reading and adopted as a basis draft law No. 11256-2 on raising excise tax rates on motor fuel, which did not foresee a sharp increase in the excise tax on liquefied gas (LPG).

According to the draft law, a schedule of annual increases in excise rates is provided from July 1, 2024 to January 1, 2028. In particular, the excise duty on gasoline should increase from the current EUR213.5/1 thousand liters to EUR242.6 – from July 2024, EUR271.7 – 2025, EUR300.8 – 2026, EUR329.9 – 2027 and EUR359 in 2028.

The excise duty on diesel fuel from the current EUR139.5/1 thousand l should increase to EUR177.6 from July 2024, to EUR215.7 in 2025, EUR253.8 in 2026, EUR291.9 in 2027 and EUR330 from 2028.

The excise duty on liquefied gas (propane or a mixture of propane and butane, LPG) from the current EUR52/1 thousand l should increase to EUR55.6 from July 2024, to EUR59.2 in 2025, EUR62.8 in 2026 , EUR66.4 in 2027 and EUR70 in 2028.

At the same time, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy on July 4 approved this draft law for the second reading, but compared to the document approved as a basis, it proposed to increase the excise duty on liquefied gas from the current EUR52/1 thousand liters to EUR250 – from 2028 instead EUR70.

The law should enter into force on September 1, 2024.
