Medicine financing in 2025 increased by more than UAH 13.5 billion, the budget of the medical guarantee program increased by 10%, said Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal.
“This year, the budget for medicine was increased by more than UAH 13.5 billion. The budget of the medical guarantee program increased by 10%,” – said Smigal at a government meeting on Friday.
According to him, the government is working at the same time to reduce the prices of medicines and increase their availability for citizens. “According to the Ministry of Health, since the end of February there is a significant decrease in the weighted average retail cost of medicines included in the Top 100 list. It is about reducing prices by 27%,” he said.
According to Shmigal, the record government is expanding the Affordable Medicines Program, for which Ukrainians can receive 600 drugs and medical devices for free or with a small extra charge. “All pharmacies will join the Affordable Medicines program,” he added.
Shmigal also noted the mobile pharmacy program. According to him, it is already working in 15 regions, and “people in remote villages and frontier regions can get the medicines they need.”
“The reform of the MSEC is an important place in the reform of the field of medicine. Transparency and digitalization come to the corruption and bureaucratic system. More than 1400 expert teams are evaluated in almost 300 medical facilities.
“We also continue to work on providing our hospitals with the necessary equipment. Last year, medical institutions received more than 100 thousand units of medical devices and modern equipment,” the Prime Minister added.
