The owner of the winning lottery ticket was a resident of Western Australia.

By messages The Sydney Morning Herald Powerball winner bought a ticket at a shop in the town of Bennett Springs and didn’t know about his winnings for several weeks.

The man told reporters that he bought the winning ticket a few hours before the lottery draw and simply forgot about it.

Two weeks later, he walked into that store again and heard people discussing the owner of the new Powerball jackpot.

The man checked the numbers on his ticket and realized that he was the winner of the latest drawing, which received almost 30 million dollars.
